ALICE IN WONDERLAND

ONCE UPON THE TIME ...

there was a girl named Alice. Once while sitting by the river bank, she saw a white rabbit in a suit with pocket watch. Out of curiosity, she followed him into a rabbit hole. She found herself in a room with many doors, each of different size. She looked through a keyhole of one of them and saw a beautiful garden. Alice found a bottle with the words "drink me" on the table. When she did, she shrank and couldn’t reach the handle! But when she ate a cake with the message "eat me", she grew up so much that her head hit the ceiling! Fortunately, she went small again and swam away with the tears she wept when she was huge. She soon saw a white rabbit again. She followed him until she came across a blue caterpillar smoking a hookah on a mushroom. He told her that one side of the mushroom would make her huge, the other small instead. Alice broke two pieces from the mushroom and continued her journey. In the middle of the forest, she came across the Cheshire Cat, who helped her find her way. But he also gave her a warning: "We're all mad here." In the rabbit‘s house, Alice took part in a tea party with Mad Hatter, March Hare and a Dormouse. Because their watch stopped, it was always tea time, so the party never ended. Alice left them to their fate. Eventually, she found a door with a garden she saw in the first room, in a trunk of an old tree. She went through it and found herself in the kingdom of the Queen of Hearts. Her three subjects, playing cards, were painting all the roses red. But it was too late! When the queen came and saw that they had mistakenly planted white roses, she ordered them all executed! But Alice was kind and hid them in a flower pot. The Queen and Alice then played croquet with live animals and Queen accompanied her to the Gryphon, who took her to see a trial of the Knave of Hearts. The Queen accused him of stealing tarts. But Alice was offended by the nonsense the queen was making up; the Knave couldn't do any of that! And when she was called up as a witness, she told her so. All the cards on the Queen's court rose to attack her, when suddenly Alice woke up! The whole adventure was just a strange dream.

„I found my way to illustration through comics and over the years I created my own distinctive style, which combines analog and digital media with strong colors. I like to explore a wide range of topics from pop culture to ekology. I look at illustration as another language that I can talk to people with, which is why there are a lot of hidden symbols in my work.Martina was thrilled when I told her that I would like to illustrate Alice in Wonderland for the scarf design. There are a lot of fantastical elements in the story, which are sometimes absurd and that you can find in my illustrations. I imagined the design as a vortex that pulls Alice falls into the underground realm and where she’s surrounded by the main characters or symbols that refer to them. We chose burgundy red as the main color for this design, complimented by beige. It is a magical color well connected with the fairy tale, not only thanks to the Queen of Hearts."
