PEONIES AND BUTTERFLIES
In evening I watched butterflies / The last, forgotten strays / On their wings of paper /Paintings to portray
Sitting on peony flowers / Their scent the piercing sound / Lovers of wings of colour / In dress of thorns are bound
Paintings drawn by empty hand / Telling of Sun’s blinding ray / Showing wishes of their mind / All the things for which they pray
Such wings will not fly / Colour weights them down / The ink collects in puddles / And threatens them to drown
Thus they folded into verse / Words that feed the gloom / And beauty for beauty's sake / Soaks into the blooms
But I did not read a poem / Nor the stanzas of a song / I saw a tiny prayer / On wings the lines too long
Pointless is the beauty / Butterflies radiate it still / They beg for the next dawn / To give flowers one more fill

KATEŘINA ABOUT HERSELF
"I was thrilled when Martina approached me with a scarf design based on the theme of a mysterious garden full of peonies and butterflies.The collection features both flowers living their own lives and those arranged in geometrically precise garden beds. The flowers are accompanied by a flock of butterflies with beautifully coloured mirror patterns on their wings. Flying above the flowers, they contrast with the peony petals. The result is a magical spectacle, full of the imprecise precision of nature. This regular ornamental pattern is complemented by an organic one, where the peonies stand out in all their glory. Their full blooms in various stages of openness form together one large motif that is constantly growing. All of these nature-inspired scarves are created in watercolour, the art technique that is closest to my heart. Working on this collection was a real joy for me."
Kateřina studied illustration and graphic design in Brno and animation in Ostrava. She currently works as freelance illustrator and animator, she made commissions for the National Museum in Prague, for example. In 2020, she participated in the festival of contemporary illustration Lustr, in which she won the Best Illustrator of the Year award. She prefer to work with watercolor, which is her hallmark.
MARTINA ABOUT KATEŘINA
"In Katka's art style, I like her typical and brilliantly mastered watercolor illustration. When I thought about what story would be ideal for Kateřina to stand out with the lightness with which she creates her watercolors, I was inspired by her illustration of an autumn forest, full of mushrooms, twigs and fallen leaves. The classic story About Budulínek by Božena Němcová was an ideal motif, where all these motifs could be fully developed, as well as her style of illustration. The collaboration was really close this time, because Katka drew all the individual elements and I then composed them leaf by leaf, mushroom after mushroom, twig after twig into the final scarf pattern. I have a particularly personal relationship to this illustration. "
SCARVES‘ MATERIAL AND PACKAGING
Author’s design is printed either on 100 % organic silk twill with rolled edges (size 100x100 cm, 90x90 cm and 70x70 cm) or on the voile made of 30 % silk and 70 % fine cotton (size Giant 130x130 cm). The scarves are packaged in handmade boxes. Also included are certificates with fairy tales and an original string with a pearl button. It is used for tying scarves and arranging them as part of an outfit. 100 % silk scarves have a unique serial number in their certificates. They are produced in limited series - only 100 pieces of size 100x700 cm and 90x90 cm and 200 pieces of size 70x70 cm.
